Skógar Folk Museum
Skógar Folk Museum was founded in 1949 at the initiative of Þórður Tómasson, the curator. He was born in 1921 and developed an interest in Icelandic culture and its preservation at an early age. Along with his work at the museum, Tómasson has published many books on aspects of Icelandic folk culture. Over 25,000 people visit this enchanting museum each year. Tómasson is a charismatic character who is always well remembered by museum visitors.
